About Brent

As a WordPress Developer with over a decade immersed in the ever-evolving web development field, I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with exceptionally talented people on some genuinely fun, challenging, and rewarding projects. Whether I’m building custom themes from scratch, handling tricky and delicate site migrations, or fine-tuning front-end code, I thoroughly enjoy taking complex ideas and turning them into fast, reliable, and user-friendly websites. Throughout my professional career, building functional and accessible digital experiences has been my primary driving passion, and I’m continually looking for exciting new opportunities to craft top-tier web solutions that truly stand out in today’s digital landscape.

My foundational expertise as a WordPress Developer really started taking definitive shape during my formal education years. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Web Design & Development with a specialized emphasis in Web Design from Brigham Young University – Idaho in 2014, where I was an active, engaged member of both the Web Society and the Photographics Society, helping me hone my creative visual eye right alongside my rigorous technical execution. Before that milestone, I picked up an AAS in Graphic Design from Provo College in 2009 and completed foundational general coursework at Utah Valley University from 2004 to 2007. That comprehensive, unique mix of aesthetic design principles and hardcore technical training still heavily shapes how I approach and execute every single site build today.

Outside of my daily professional work as a WordPress Developer, family and faith remain completely at the core and center of everything I do. As a lifelong, dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I strive to live those foundational values every single day. My amazing wife and I are happily busy raising our children, and whether we’re deep into a competitive family board game night, sharing a casual weekend meal, or just enjoying quiet, peaceful moments at home, spending quality time with them is what matters most to me above all else.

My background also includes serving a full-time, two-year mission for the Church in Indiana from 2002 to 2004—a challenging, character-building, but deeply rewarding experience. Stepping completely out of my comfort zone taught me how to genuinely connect with people from all walks of life, adapt quickly to unfamiliar environments, and appreciate a unique local culture. That intensive period built an inner resilience and adaptability that definitely comes in handy whenever I’m troubleshooting a stubborn, elusive bug or working diligently through a tight project deadline. Although I haven’t had the chance to return for a visit yet, my personal connection to the state remains strong, and I hope to travel back there again someday.

On a personal level, living with type 1 diabetes for over 20 years has been quite a transformative life journey. After managing the condition manually for my first 15 years, I made the transition to using an insulin pump and a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), which made a massive, life-changing difference in my daily routine and overall health management. While managing a chronic medical condition takes constant, daily attention and strict discipline, it has given me an immense amount of patience, self-awareness, and a natural problem-solving mindset—skills that seamlessly spill over into my professional life as a WordPress Developer when I am dealing with complex, multi-layered codebases.

When I’m finally away from the computer keyboard, I deeply enjoy a wide variety of personal hobbies that keep me active, thoroughly entertained, and creatively inspired. Walking, hiking, and immersing myself in nature bring me a profound sense of inner peace, while TV shows and movies, especially rich science fiction narratives, continually ignite my imagination. As a proud, card-carrying Trekkie, I’m always passionate about exploring the vast, compelling universe of Star Trek. Music is another major cornerstone of my daily life; I’m a massive fan of country music and a huge admirer of Taylor Swift’s lyrical writing artistry. Capturing everyday life moments with my iPhone, playing classic board games, diving into deep computer strategy games (like Cities: Skylines, Civilization VI, Minecraft, and Transport Fever 2), or casually enjoying the Nintendo Switch also bring me immense joy. And as a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, I always relish the unmatched excitement of cheering them on every single autumn and winter throughout the NFL season.
